The invention relates to a frame (7), supporting a beater which is mobile and parallel to a fixed platen (8) on the frame, said beater comprising two parallel plates fixed to each other (13, 14) providing between them a thin space for the passage of the film to be engraved (1) and both essentially extending along a length of film corresponding to the number of images to be sub-titled at the same time. Said beater (13, 14) is connected for operation to a motor (10) controlled by synchronisation means and arranged to subject the above to alternating push and pull movements between an applied position during which one of said plates (13) is applied against the platen (8) of the frame whilst the film is stopped and a remote position during which the same plate is removed from the platen. Said platen (8) has at least first (I) and second (II) film positioning pins, on which two perforations (2, 3) in the film engage when the beater is in the operating position, the consecutive removal of the beater with relation to the platen (8) permits the disengagement of the film from the positioning pins and reestablishment of the free motion thereof between the plates (13, 14) of the beater in the remote position up to the next position for engraving. |
