A ratchet wrench capable of providing a specified torque from the beginning of operation by constantly securing friction acting on a shank irrespective of the opening of a pair of annular holding parts. A frictional force generating means (92) having a first guide bush (82) and disc springs (84) is installed in the shank (22A) with a locking pin (90) to manufacture a shank assembly (94) as an assembly. The spring force of the disc springs (84) acts only on the inside of the shank assembly (94) and does not act on the outside. The shank assembly (94) is inserted from the center space (13a) of one first annular holding part (12a) to the other second annular holding part (12b) to hold the shank (22A) on the inner wall of the second annular holding part (12b). The rear side of the inserted shank assembly (94) is prevented from being extracted through the center space (13a) of the first annular holding part (12a) by a retaining ring (118) fitted to a groove (116) in the first annular holding part (12a).
