<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which cleaning failure and photoreceptor filming are prevented by application of a lubricant on an image carrying body and problems such as contamination of the apparatus caused by application of a lubricant or increase in the scale are prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an image carrying body 5, a lubricant 90 to be applied on the image carrying body 5, and prescribed means 4, 71 including a cleaning means 71 to clean at least the image carrying body 5, so as to allow the image carrying body 5 to carry the image.
