FUSION SPLICE REINFORCING DEVICE AND REINFORCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fusion splice reinforcing device and a reinforcing method that never make optical fibers not mutually overlap when a fusion splice part where a plurality of coated optical fiber ribbons are arranged in parallel and connected by fusion splicing is reinforced with a protection member. SOLUTION: The fusion splice reinforcing device is equipped with a heating mechanism 11 which heat-treats a fusion splice part 4 where the coated optical fiber ribbons 1a to 1d have been connected by fusion splicing is covered with the protection member 5, and clamp mechanisms 12a and 12b which clamp both the sides of the fusion splice part 4. The clamp mechanisms 12a and 12b have tow or more clamp surfaces for clamping the plurality of coated optical fiber ribbons 1a to 1d at mutually different angles.
