PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient detector and method for a high energy X-ray capable of enhancing an inspection time and precision for nondestructive inspection or the like of a thick object favorable to use the high energy X-ray. SOLUTION: A thin film of a heavy metal element such as lead, and a usual two-dimensional X-ray detecting means are brought into close contact to be formed as one set, a plurality of sets are used in series to the X-ray, an obtained image is loaded in an arithmetic unit, it is collated with a predetermined evaluation reference to be computed, and it is output on a display or paper to be solved.
