PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dispersion of paper carrying time by having a distal end part of a paper sheet put close to a paper feed/separation roller in advance by feeding the paper sheet before a paper supplying operation. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a paper feed cassette 18a for setting the paper sheet, a pick-up roller 7 for taking the paper sheet out of the paper feed cassette 18a, a sensor 35 before separation for detecting the paper sheet taken out by the pick-up roller 7, the paper feed/separation rollers 15 and 16 for separating the paper sheet detected by the sensor 35 for separation one sheet by one sheet and feeding the paper sheet, a command device for imparting a take-out command of the paper sheet to the pick-up roller 7, and a control device for controlling the paper sheet to be fed in advance till the paper sheet is detected by the sensor 35 before separation by operating the pick-up roller 7 before imparting the take-out command by the command device.
