PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus for reducing deterioration in the quality of recorded sound even when a plurality of drive motors for generating noise exist and a microphone has to be located in the vicinity of any drive motor. SOLUTION: A plurality of microphones 42, 44 are arranged in the recording apparatus, and for a period when a zoom lens drive motor 22 or a focus lens drive motor 24 generates noise, a memory 62 stores sound picked up by the second microphone 44 located to pick up less noise of the zoom lens drive motor 22 and the focus lens drive motor 24 than the other microphone. Further, for a period when an iris drive motor 26 generates noise, the memory 62 stores sound picked up by the first microphone 42 located to pick up less noise of the iris drive motor 26 than the other microphone. Moreover, level detection sections 46, 48 respectively detects the level of the sound picked up by the microphones 42, 44 and the CPU 80 discriminates the microphones picking up the sound to use for recording.
