CAMERA SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system for an automobile for allowing a driver to check at anytime whether or not the visual field of a camera is not blocked. SOLUTION: In a camera system to be installed in a passenger compartment of an automobile, a camera (3) is surrounded by a housing (7) and is oriented towards a windshield (1) of the passenger compartment. A shield (11) is provided between the camera (3) and the windshield (1). The shield (1) is movable between a closed position at which the camera (3) is shielded against scatter light from the passenger compartment and an open position accessible to a front lens (4) of the camera (3) and an area (6) of the windshield lying in the visual field of the camera (3).
