PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that reliably obtains the desired display response speed regardless of the environmental temperatures without incurring uneven display, brightness drop and display quality drop. SOLUTION: Visible light LEDs 9 and infrared LEDs 10 are adjacently disposed at the rounded corners of a rectangular light guide plate 8, and concentric arc grooves 8b are formed around the light emitting center of the visible light LED 9 on the rear surface of the light guide plate 8. The infrared light from the infrared LED 10 are reflected at the arc grooves 8b and evenly outputted from the surface of the light guide plate as shown by the two-dotted chain line in the same way as the visible light shown by the solid line, and evenly illuminates the back of the liquid crystal display panel LP1.
