PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc fluorescent probe which specifically catches zinc ions to emit fluorescence. SOLUTION: The zinc fluorescent probe contains a compound represented by formula (I) [wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a group represented by formula (A) (wherein X<SP>1</SP>to X<SP>4</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a 2-pyridylmethyl group, a 2-pyridylethyl group, or the like; and m and n are each 0 or 1); R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>6</SP>are each a 1 to 6C alkyl group; R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>7</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, a 1 to 6C alkyl group, a carboxy group, or the like; and R<SP>5</SP>and R<SP>8</SP>are each a 1 to 6C alkyl group, an aryl group, a 1 to 6C alkoxycarbonyl group, a vinyl group, or the like] or a salt thereof.
