The present invention discloses a method for updating the shared key of the multicast/broadcast traffic group. Multicast/broadcast server transmits the current shared key, the serial number count of the next shared key for switching and the updating shared key list including at least one serial number and the corresponding shared key to the users in the group. The users in the group store the above information. Multicast/broadcast server broadcasts the switching command of the shared key with the serial number count of new next shared key for switching to the users in the group. The users in the group choose the shared key of which the serial number count is same as the serial number count of the next shared key for switching from the updating shared key list stored, and switch the current shared key to said shared key. The users in the group store the serial number count of the new next shared key for switching. The present invention can avoid the heavy burden of the wireless communication network and the communication jam effectively, and prevent the users in the group from telling the shared key in the shared key list to the unauthorized users.
