Cpd. of formula:- II Salts of I, pref. with Na+, Ca2+ and NH4+. Sweetening agent (low calory). "Dose" 10-100 mg/100 g. To III (Ac = CH3CO; 9g.), CNBr (6.15 g.), CHCl3 (75 ml.) at 0-5 deg., Et3N (5.9 g.) was added (15 mins.), followed by NaN3 (3.8 g.) in H2O (50 ml.). Stirred, 2 h., acidified (6N HCl), sepd., the H2O extd. with Et2O (2X50 ml.) and the extracts evapd. in vac. and the residue recryst. from EtOA Aq, giving IV, m.p. 100-102 deg. This (2 g.) was heated 1 h. in NaOH-Aq, acidified (HCl), extd. (Et2O), the extract dried, evapd. and recryst. from H2O giving I (1.5 g.), m.p. 141-3 deg. |
