PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information display unit and its control method for displaying information at an external display even when an application is not made to correspond to external output, and to provide a program and a storage medium . SOLUTION: This information display device 1 is provided with an external output controller 6 and an external output key 12. When the external output key 12 is depressed, the external output controller 6 transmits a message showing the start of external output to a current application, and starts a timer 1 to make an event occur after a fixed time. When a current application is made to correspond to external output, and a message showing the comprehension of external output is returned from the current application, the timer 1 is stopped. When the current application is not made to correspond to the external output, and an event is made to occur by the timer 1, the timer 1 is stopped.
