The laminates consist of a decorative face sheet on a flexible support, the surface of the face sheet constituting a reproduction of the sheet which it is required to copy. The reproduction is made by moulding the face sheet against a negative copy of the original, on a piece of calico coated on both sides with silicone elastomer one face of which has been moulded against the original. Accurate reproductions of fabric surfaces. The transfer strip is formed by coating a relatively rigid anti-adherent base sheet with an anti-adherent flexible plastic sheet, then superposing a loose weave calico and finally another layer of elastomer. While the elastomer is still liquid a strip of the material whose surface is to be reproduced is placed in contact with it, the elastomer is vulcanised and finally both the base sheet and the original are removed. The transfer sheet is then treated with a layer of e.g. polyurethane and a flexible support sheet and the whole vulcanised. After removing the transfer strip a reproduction of the surface remains.
|
