The retainer is for the prevention of loosening of a nut (1,3) at the undesired edge of a thread end and involves the installation of a small chamber in a lathe at one end of the third thread of a thread end with a depth of one third of the thread end diameter and a width of the retainer platelet plus one millimeter (2). The retainer platelet (4) of 3 millimeters thickness is stamped out of carbon steel in the dimensions of a standard nut with a cut-out which fits over the small chamber of the thread end.
