<p>A method and apparatus for reducing noise in speech signals employing <i>a priori</i> knowledge regarding human speech production and knowledge of the speech dynamics, such as knowledge regarding the production of sounds in the mouth and throat region. Further employing a new model based spectral subtraction algorithm. Employs replacing part of the original signal containing voiced sounds by synthetically produced pulses. Improves the noise reduction without affecting the wanted (speech) components of the signal. The method may be used for low SNR (SNR<10dB). Advantageous when used in connection with communication using cellular phones.</p> |
