PURPOSE: A system and method for restricting the use of a digital camera in a mobile terminal is provided to protect privacy and security information by comparing the location information of a photographing limited area with the location information of a mobile terminal, transmitting a photographing prohibition signal to the mobile terminal if it is judged that the mobile terminal approaches the photographing limited area, and momentarily limiting the photographing function of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A GPS monitoring part in a base station monitors the locations of mobile stations, located in its own service area, in real time, and compares the location of each mobile station with the location of a preset photographing limited area. In case that a mobile station approaches the preset photographing limited area, the base station recognizes it and transmits a photographing prohibition signal to the mobile station. The mobile station, receiving the photographing prohibition signal, momentarily restricts the photographing function according to the signal.
