A sliding soft top (2) covers the opening between the A and B columns, when closed (i.e. when in the deployed or covering state). When the roof is open the soft top components enter a storage space (10) behind the seat (8) and in front of the bulkhead (11). The soft top includes leading- and trailing strip panels (4, 6). Side rails (9) guide and support them. The sheet of material forming the soft top (3) is connected at its front end with the first panel (4) and at the rear end with the second (6). Spacing between the panels when open, is less than when closed.
