The method detects the condition gas against brakes using the electronic unit (1) of the braking system for verifying that the velocity of the wheels (3,4) of the driven axle (HA) is greater than the velocity of the wheels (2) of the non-driven axle by a given amount over a defined duration, that the breaking pressure applied to the wheels of the driven axle is greater than a given braking pressure and that the retardation of the driven wheels is within a given retardation band.
