Dye bath contains a minor proportion of a polar organic solvent (I) in which the dye is soluble and a major propn. of a non-polar solvent (II), in which the dye is either insoluble or almost insoluble. Solvent (I) may be MeOH or i-PrOH and (II) may be perchloroethylene, or solvent (I) may be a halogenated aliphatic alcohol (suitably 2-chloroethanol) which forms an azeotrope with (II). In an example a comp. contains 1% of CI acid yellow 61 in a bath of 40 pts. MeOH, 40 pts. i-PrOH, 916 perchloroethylene and 4 pts. glacial acetic. Dyeing is effected for 56 min. while raising the tempo. from 19-88 degrees C, after which the material (nylon 6.6) is rinsed once with perchloroethylene at 19 degrees C for 6 min.
|
