[Also in Division H5] Food is heated by microwaves on a thin dish 1 made of a material substantially free from loss e.g. polymethylmethacrylate, which is a close fit in a shallow outer container 3 which is thick-walled compared with the dish and is made of a material substantially free from loss and having a dialectric constant about equal to the mean dialectric constant of the foods to be heated, e.g. 5 or more. The dish 1 has a rim 2 which bears on an upper surface 4 of the container 3 and may be provided with integral partitions. The arrangement is stated to reduce "edge" and "partition" burning of the food. |
