A secondary battery comprises an electrolyte container, a cover for the electrolyte container incorporating a filling aperture 17 for each cell and at least one vent tube 18 extending down into the electrolyte container to the desired electrolyte level, a liquid reservoir 16, in communication with all the filling apertures and a cover 30 which seals the reservoir and each vent tube and incorporates a vent 34b, which is closed by a float valve at a predetermined liquid level and a pipe connection 32, which is connected to a filling funnel or tank. The cover 30 may be made of plastic. It is held in position by rim 31 which engages the reservoir rim and ribs 23 which engage the vent tube(s). |
