PURPOSE: A method and a system for notifying the failures by using a short message service in a telemetry system are provided to recover the failure by informing the failure information to a recovery technician through a short message service. CONSTITUTION: A system for notifying the failures by using a short message service in a telemetry system includes at least one subscriber's measuring unit(110), a telemetry inspection server(140), a short message service center(SMSC)(160) and a failure recovery terminal unit(170). The subscriber's measuring unit generates the data of inspection of test by measuring the amount of energy used. The telemetry inspection server transmits the telemetering inspection signal to the subscriber's measuring unit through the cable or the wireless communication method or stores the inspection data and/or the failure related message from the subscriber's measuring unit. The SMSC receives the failure related message through the PSTN to transmit. And, the failure recovery terminal unit is provided with at least one mobile communication terminal to receive the message related to the failure from the SMSC to be displayed.
