PURPOSE: A thermal printer is provided to print an image of high quality by automatically adjusting a thermal head and equalizing the inertia pressure of the thermal head against a platen roller. CONSTITUTION: A first arm(6) is elastically supported toward a first elastic member(12) and a second arm(7) is elastically supported to a second elastic member(13) at regular intervals of a size D from the lengthwise center of a head support portion(5a). The elastic supporting force of the first elastic member is different from the elastic supporting force of the second elastic member. Thereby, the inertia pressure of a thermal head(2) against a platen roller(3) is equalized in the first arm and the second arm.
