PURPOSE: A process of preparing a stretchable fabric by fluid texturing of lowly stretchable diacetate yarns as an effective yarn and highly stretchable polyester latent crimp yarns as a core yarn and then carrying out the alkali treatment of the obtained polyester combined filament yarn having different shrinkage is provided. The obtained fiber has bidirectional stretchability and a fabric using this fiber exhibits excellent appearance, softness, drape properties and absorbency as compared to fabrics comprising conventional rayon/polyester latent crimp yarns. CONSTITUTION: A combined filament yarn having different shrinkage using lowly stretchable diacetate yarns and highly stretchable polyester latent crimp yarns is subjected to heat treatment, and then the woven fabric is subjected to alkali treatment. The effect yarn and core yarn satisfies the following formula:8<=SSP(H)-SSP(L)<=27 after saponification in which SSP(H) is a shrinkage rate(%) of highly stretchable yarns in a saponification process and SSP(L) is a shrinkage rate(%) of lowly stretchable yarns in a saponification process. The polyester latent crimp yarns have a weight ratio of polyester polymer(A) and highly stretchable polyester polymer(B) in a range of 20:80 to 8:20.
