PURPOSE: A door opening and closing device of a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent accidents by opening the door with the air cylinder corresponding to signals from sensors, and to open and close the door accurately by stopping opening of the door in an emergency. CONSTITUTION: An interlocking rod(42) is installed to a door frame by a hinge(48), and actuated in opening and closing the door by penetrating a case(46). A pin cylinder(43b) is fixed by a bracket(47) in an inner front panel(6) of the door, and a brake unit(40b) is formed in the end of the rod of the pin cylinder. The brake pad holds the interlocking rod penetrating the case, and a brake release unit has a limit switch mounted in an inner and outer handle assembly(9) and contacted in pulling the inner or outer handle and a touch switch mounted in the pulling handle to detect contact of the human body.
