PURPOSE: An apparatus for preventing a discharge of automobile batteries is provided to start an engine when a residual voltage of batteries are too low and to stop the engine when the residual voltage of the batteries is high enough. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for preventing a discharge of automobile batteries includes a control unit(104) performing following steps. A voltage of batteries in an automobile is detected and the detected battery voltage is compared with a first reference voltage. When the detected voltage is lower than the first reference voltage, an engine is initiated when the automobile is in a normal or a parking state. The voltage of the batteries is redetected, and the detected voltage is compared with a predetermined second reference voltage. When the voltage is higher that the second reference voltage, the engine is stopped.
