The calculation stage (41) of cumulative histogram values use two parallel additions by adders (4a-4d) each leading an addition result, based on two histogram values or one histogram value. One addition result is calculated, during previous calculation stage or two addition results are calculated during at least one previous calculation stage. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) calculation unit; (2) image processing system; (3) set top box; (4) communication network; and (5) program storing instructions for image processing.
