The system has a rotating unit with an encoder, and a non rotating unit with a passive sensor (14) for detecting an angular position of the encoder. The passive sensor is distant from the encoder. An electronic counter (25) counts the number of turns of the rotating unit and a temporary supply unit (27) supplies the sensor and the counter. A connector (21) transmits a signal representing the position and power supply to the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a bearing having a rotation measurement system.
