The polishing disc is made from a number of layers of different materials: an outer surface of felted fibres or filaments (1), either natural or synthetic, on a support (2) attached to a backing layer (4) on an interface layer (6) of a polymer foam. The fibre layer support can be attached to the backing layer by an adhesive (3) and the backing layer can be joined to the interface layer by Velcro (RTM; polyamide hook and loop fastener) panels (5).
