摘要 PURPOSE: A data driving unit of a liquid crystal display device is provided to reduce the power consumption of the liquid crystal display device by selectively applying the minimum luminance voltage and the maximum luminance voltage to the data line of the liquid crystal display panel. CONSTITUTION: A data driving unit of a liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of decoders(261), a gamma voltage generation unit(262), a switching units(263), a mode selection unit, a plurality of first switching devices(SW101,SW102), a plurality of second switching devices(SW111,SW112) and a first and a second black and white mode drivingunits(271A,271B). The decoders outputs the decoding signals by decoding the N-bits digital image signals. The gamma voltage generation unit generates a plurality of analog voltages supplied to the data lines of the liquid crystal display panel. The switching units applies the selected analog signal to the data lines of the liquid crystal display panel. The mode selection unit generates the mode selection signal in response to the full-color mode and the black and white mode of the image. The first switching devices make the decoders enable and disable in response to the mode selection signal. The second switching devices make the gamma voltage generation unit enable or disable in response to the mode selection signal. And, the first and the second black and white mode driving units select the minimum voltage and the maximum voltage among the analog voltages in response to the mode selection signal and to apply the selected voltage to the data lines of the liquid crystal display panel.
