PURPOSE: A method of preparing functional rice containing Paeoniae Radix by soaking rice in a Paeoniae Radix extract and drying is provided. The rice has spasmolytic, anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory and antiulcer effects. CONSTITUTION: The method for production of functional rice comprises: washing rice with clean water three times or more; dehydrating; soaking the dehydrated rice in a Paeoniae Radix extract; and drying, in which the soaking and drying process is repeated two times. For an example, 60g Paeoniae Radix is extracted in 5L water at 100deg.C for 4hr to give 3,500cc Paeoniae Radix extract, which is added with 2L water and extracted. Thereafter, 800g rice is washed with water 3 to 4 times and soaked in 320g Paeoniae Radix extract for 12hr and dried at 60deg.C.
