PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the improvement of focusing precision compatible with the increase of photographing opportunities. SOLUTION: The moving image photographing device is provided with a first focusing means for performing automatic focusing during photographing and a second focusing means for automatic focusing when recording a still image. When a still image recording is designated (YES in S806), an image automatically focused the first focusing means is stored in a storage device as a still image in the case that an imaging period is longer than a prescribed period (YES in S808). When still image recording is indicated (YES in S806), an image focused by the second focusing means is stored in the storage device as a still image in response to successful focusing of the second focusing means within a prescribed time in the case that the imaging period is shorter than a prescribed period (NO in S808). In the case that an image is not focused within the prescribed time, an image obtained by the second focusing means after the prescribed time is stored in the storage device as a still image.
