PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens assembly which can be made compact as compared with the conventional lens assembly. SOLUTION: The lens assembly 10 is constituted by coupling and fixing a lens 1A with a lens 1B and a spacer 2 by using a thin thermal shrinkage hardening type sleeve 3. Its outside diameter is made smaller than the conventional lens assembly where the lens is fixed by a lens barrel and its entire occupied volume is decreased by as much as a difference between the occupied volume of the sleeve 3 and the occupied volume of the lens barrel. Besides, since the sleeve 3 performs the same part as the lens barrel, positional relation among the optical axis X1A of the lens 1A, the optical axis X1B of the lens 1B, and the center axis X2 of the spacer 2 is kept constant. Therefore, the lens assembly 10 can be made compact as compared with the conventional lens assembly on which the lens barrel is mounted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
