PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silencer for reducing membrane vibration generated in its outer shell member and effectively reducing noises emitted therefrom. SOLUTION: Outer shell members 2 and 3 constituting the silencer 1 comprise concave beads 6a to 6c and 8a to 8c extending in the longitudinal direction thereof to form main body portions 7a to 7d and 9a to 9d having curved surfaces, which are in cross section circular arcs bulging outward of the silencer 1.
