The wood veneer contact drying process involves the use of a completely smooth heat-transfer contact surface, this being one of two such surfaces, for which no device to remove the water vapor is necessary. The spacing between the upper and lower contact surfaces in the contact drying device is periodically increased and reduced during the drying process.
