<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system suited to an open system in which a security function of a logical device is highly-developed. <P>SOLUTION: Six kinds of access attributes which are "read/write available", "read-only", "read/write disable", "read capacity 0", "inquiry stop" and "S-vol disable" can be set in a storage system such as a RAID system in each logical device 101. The "read capacity 0" outputs a response of capacity 0 when capacity is inquired from a host. The "inquiry stop" inhibits the host from recognizing the logical device. The "S-vol disable" uses the logical device as a copied destination and inhibits pair formation for duplicating the logical device and the other logical device.
