<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new azo dye as a coloring composition for forming an image and the coloring composition forming the image designed to form the image having a good hue and high fastness under various service conditions and environmental conditions, especially an ink for ink-jet recording and to provide a method for the ink-jet recording using the ink. <P>SOLUTION: The coloring composition comprises the azo dye having a heterocyclic ring as a coupling component and a diazo component, respectively and at least one ionic hydrophilic group and at least one ≥5C aliphatic group.
