<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory card device that makes it possible to shut off the power to a memory card and safely remove the card after completing operation in progress within a period of time from the detection of removal of the memory card to the disconnection of a power line and other signal line from a connector, without requiring a complex mechanism such as a door cover. <P>SOLUTION: A first contact from which a card detection signal -CD of the card connector 3 is outputted is located deeper than other signal contacts. A tenth contact serving as a ground terminal is elongated so that the contact is the last to disconnect when the card is removed. When the memory card 1 is removed and an interrupt occurs in a controller 4 because of the signal -CD, the controller 4 first issues a reset command to the memory card 1, inactivating a control signal to the memory card 1 to ensure safety even if the power card supply is shut off.
