EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emission control system for setting a temperature of an emission control means to a target temperature by adding a more appropriate fuel amount in consideration of an individual difference of an engine element of an internal combustion engine and an individual difference of the emission control means.

SOLUTION: This emission control system of the internal combustion engine comprises: the emission control means arranged to an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine and purifying an exhaust gas; a temperature estimating means for estimating the temperature of the emission control means; and an addition amount calculating means for calculating the fuel amount to be added to the exhaust gas in order to make the temperature of the emission control means to the target temperature based on the temperature of the emission control means estimated by the temperature estimating means. This emission control system further comprises a temperature correction means which calculates a reference temperature of the emission control means under a predetermined condition (S103), and corrects the temperature of the emission control means estimated by the temperature estimating means based on the reference temperature (S106).
