PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of suppressing the deterioration of a liquid crystal panel and an incident side polarizing plate due to temperature rise, to provide a projector equipped with the optical device and to provide a mounting method of liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method of an optical device. SOLUTION: The optical device is provided with a cross-dichroic prism 500 and liquid crystal display devices 400R, 400G, 400B. The optical device is further provided with a plurality of heat sink members 936 which are bonded on a heat-conductive member 940 and store and retain a plurality of liquid crystal display devices 400 bonded therein. An optical device 700 is characterized in that the respective heat sink members 936 are composed of two side surface parts for double side bonding opposed to each other and a channel-shape block body having a ceiling part 936B which connects the side surface parts for double side bonding.
