The fitting system for especially the seat of a motor vehicle has at least one lockable fitting with which interacts at least one operating device via an unlocking mechanism. A pretensioned spring (51) is provided in the unlocking mechanism between the operating device and the fitting and through which the operating device unlocks the fitting. The pretensioning of the spring is the same as or greater than the force required for the unlocking of the fitting.
