<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior cover, a paper feeder and an image forming apparatus at low costs capable of easily, surely and properly closing down the exterior cover by restricting appropriate closedown of the exterior cover by simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: A slide bar 81 with an engagement hook 82 of both ends and a release lever 85 near the center is slidably attached to an upper part of a front cover 42 of the image forming apparatus. The engagement hook 82 is engaged into an engagement stage 44b on the side of the apparatus body and locks the front cover 42 at a closedown state. The release lever 85 holds the slide bar 81 at a sliding position where the engagement hook 82 is impossible to be engaged into the engagement stage 44b when opening the front cover 42 is opened and at the same time, allows the slide bar 81 to slide to a position where the engagement hook 82 can be engaged into the engagement stage 44b when a projection chip 85c is brought into contact with a side of a top cover when closing the front cover 42. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
