<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a fuel cell using a proton conductive solid polymer film for an electrolyte that a gasket is not good enough in durability and stability and reduces cell performance, and the gasket made of fluororesin is not good enough in sealing performance. <P>SOLUTION: A rib both ends of which are closed is formed on the gasket, and valleys both ends of which are closed, are formed near the rib. The ribs surround the periphery of an electrode area and a manifold area singly, doubly, or more plurally. The fluororesin can be used as a material for the gasket. It is preferable that surface processing of a mold for molding the gasket is performed by photo-etching, and surface polishing is performed after the surface processing.
