<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that forms, according to the operation for a long-size document, images on both sides of a long sheet of paper without causing image shift. <P>SOLUTION: When images are formed on both sides of a roll of paper 9, or a long sheet of paper, the images are first formed on the surface of the long sheet of paper by a drum unit 4, conveyed into a both-sided unit 1 by solenoids 7 and 102, and discharged so as to hang from the apparatus. When a sensor 101 detects the trailing end of the long paper, the solenoid 102 stops the conveyance of the long sheet of paper. When image data about image formation on the backside of the long sheet of paper is stored, the long sheet of paper is discharged from the both-sided unit 1 by the solenoid 102 and a both-sided unit motor 103, and then images are formed on the backside in the drum unit 4 again. By disposing guides within the both-sided unit 1 such that the guides matches the width of the long paper, the images can be formed on both the sides without causing the image shift. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
