POLARIZED LIGHT SEPARATING AND SYNTHESIZING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized light separating and synthesizing device which is improved in coupling efficiency by correcting the optical path difference between ordinary light and extraordinary light.

SOLUTION: The polarized light separating and synthesizing device 1 having a birefringence crystal 2 is successively arranged with a lens 3 and an optical fiber 4 on one side of the birefringence crystal 2, is arranged with a pair of optical fibers 5 and 6 on the other side of the birefringence crystal 2. The tips of the pair of the optical fibers 5 and 6 are diagonally cut in such a manner that the tips of the respective cores of the pair of the optical fibers 5 and 6 exist in the focal positions of the ordinary light 8 and extraordinary light 9 emitted from the birefringence crystal 2. The optical path difference of the ordinary light and extraordinary light is corrected by cutting the tips of the pair of the optical fibers 5 and 6 at a point oblique angleβ.
