<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the collapse of a billet shape by suitably controlling the billet temperature during heating and to keep the uniformity of metallurgical structure in the inner part of the billet. <P>SOLUTION: When the billet 2 is induction-heated in the inner part of a cylindrical heating body 3, the surface temperature of the billet 2 is adjusted to the temperature not higher than solidus temperature of the billet material by taking away the heat from the surface of the billet 2 reaching the highest temperature with cooling medium 5 through a cylindrical supporting rod 4. Further, the billet 2 being heated is rotated by rotation-driving the cylindrical supporting rod 4 with a driving means 9. The whole body of the billet 2 is uniformly brought into contact with the cylindrical supporting rod 4 by rotating the billet 2 during heating and the whole body of the billet 2 is uniformly cooled and also, the development of inclination of the unsolidified layer in the inner part of the billet 2 with the influence of the gravitation, is prevented and the uniformity of the metallurgical structure in the billet 2, is secured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
