摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To possibly calibrate a plurality of sensing electrodes used for sensing defects on a photoconductor in almost actual use conditions. SOLUTION: A defect detecting apparatus has means 106, 107 for moving a plurality of the sensing electrodes 210 relative to the photoconductor 101 for electrophotography, a dielectric 211 for intervening between a surface 102 and the sensing electrodes 210, a means 109 for applying an AC voltage to a base 101A of the photoconductor 101, a means for detecting an induced current induced to the sensing electrodes 210 by a potential change of the surface 102 and a means 108 for switching two connections or more including the means 109 for applying the AC voltage to the base 101A.
