An index card filing drawer 12, Fig. 2, is integrally moulded from a synthetic thermoplastic material and comprises side walls 16, 18, Fig. 4, front and rear end walls 22, 20, respectively, and a front face panel 26 which is spaced from the front end wall 22 by means of a web to define a downwardly open cavity between the panel 26 and wall 22. The drawer further comprises a bottom 24 having a longitudinally extending trough 42 in which is located a rod 34 for the card support 32 which is also guided along a card retaining rod 36. The rod 34 is locked in position by a lug 46 and a nut 44 and the rod 36 is locked by lugs 70 integral with a knob 68 and received between spaced vertical ribs 76 following rotation of the knob 68 through 90 degrees. The card support 32 is formed by a plate 50 and a bracket 58 whose upturned lug 60 is received in a hole 52 in the plate 50 and which is biased away from the plate 50 by a spring 66. The drawer 12 is finally provided with a peripherally extending runner 38. The drawers 12, Fig. 11, may be assembled in an array in a plastics cabinet assembled from moulded side walls 95, top, intermediate and bottom walls 114, 114a, 116, Fig. 12, and side and intermediate supporting members 90, 102 having locating pins such as 105, 107. The side walls 95 may be braced by rods 130 and the runners 38 of the drawers engage grooves in the supporting members 90, 102 and formed by respective channel-like rails (96, 98, 100, Fig. 7, and 108, 110, 112, Fig 8). |
