1,271,219. Releasable fastenings. PRESTO LOCK CO. Inc. 10 Feb., 1970 [21 Aug., 1969], No. 6342/70. Headings E2A and E2B. The fastening of a case &c. comprises a U-shaped draw-bolt 32 which is drawn into engagement with a keeper 20 by means of a toggle consisting of a manually operated lever 30 pivoted at 38 to a base 28 and a link 34 connecting it to the bolt, this bolt having ears 60 which slide under guides 62 in slots 58 in the base and being lifted clear of the keeper on release by the engagement of the. ends 68 of slots 66 against fixed ramps 70 (see Fig. 9). A back-cover 36 locates the link 34 and the bearing pin 38 and a locking means 74. Inclined ramps 64 on guides 62 allow rising of the bolt near the end of its disengaging stroke. The locking means consists of a key barrel 74 and a locking bolt 78 which is engaged by rotating the key in the barrel to move its end under the hooked end of an abutment 82, Fig. 1, to prevent the lever 30 being raised. A spring 84 gives snap-movement to the lever, Fig. 6.
|
